Ethiopia’s Ambassador Confirms Interest in Expanding Financial Cooperation with Russia

Representatives of the FBA EAEU held a working meeting with the Ambassador of Ethiopia to Russia, Genet Teshome Jirru, during which issues related to the development of interbank relations and the organization of international payments were discussed.

The meeting took place on February 6 in Moscow. On behalf of the FBA EAEU, the negotiations were attended by Alexey Kazartsev, Chairman of the Association’s International Banking Committee, and Alexander Biryukov, Representative of the FBA EAEU in West Africa and Mauritania. Vladimir Dubinkin, Member of the Board of Directors of the Russian–African Commonwealth Foundation, also participated in the meeting.

The key topic of discussion was the prospects for enhancing cooperation between Russian and Ethiopian financial institutions, as well as the development of international settlement mechanisms.

Following the meeting, the Ambassador of Ethiopia expressed his intention to speak at the Moscow International Financial and Economic Forum (MIFEF) in November, subject to his schedule. He also informed the Russian side about plans to hold a major investment event in March 2026 — the “Invest in Ethiopia High-Level Business Forum (HLBF).”
