Russia and Mauritania Discuss Launch of a Joint Fishing Fleet and Expansion of Exports

Joint Russia–Mauritania projects were also presented to State Duma Deputy Dmitry Belik during a meeting with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to the Russian Federation, Sidaty Cheikh Ould Ahmed Aicha.

The discussions focused on the export of Russian products to Mauritania, as well as opportunities for Russian companies to deploy small-scale fishing vessels in Mauritanian waters, which are considered among the richest in marine resources.

The Mauritanian coastline stretches for nearly 800 km, and the Republic is ready to make it available for the development of Russia’s presence in the country’s fishing industry,” the Ambassador noted.

The parties agreed to establish a joint Russian–Mauritanian company for the production and operation of small coastal fishing vessels.
